The School values each individuals’ artistic ability and interest. It provides the right atmosphere for the students to enjoy and appreciate this wonderful art form through the highest quality instruction. At Kalabharathi School of Dance Bharathanatyam is taught as an effective medium to explore the deeper values of life and cultural heritage.

The calendar year for Kalabharathi runs from September to June and is aligned with public and private school calendars. General classes in the summer months of July and August are scheduled per availability of students. During the summer months there are dance camps taught by visiting master artistes from India. Frequently there are special performances at local events like art festivals in Portland, Salem, Hillsboro and Vancouver.

Beginners come to class once a week, but have the option of choosing two classes if they so prefer. Intermediate and advanced students come twice a week. Adult classes are held once a week to suit work schedules.

Each class is one hour in duration. Class sizes are small and are taught by Sivagami and her assistants. She is ably assisted by her talented staff and senior students.

In addition to regular classes, students can attend special classes for performances which they may opt to participate in.
